Overview
Bible Widget is built local-first. You can use the app without creating an account, and your reading activity stays on your device unless you choose to back it up. The app is free and supported by advertising. We do not sell your personal data.
Data stored on your device
Your highlights, favorites, notes, collections, reading progress, check-ins ("Days with God"), and preferences are stored locally on your iPhone. They are not sent to our servers unless you sign in to enable backup & sync.
Optional account (backup & sync)
If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a provider identifier and — only if you choose to share them — your email address and name. We use these solely to back up and restore your app data (highlights, favorites, collections, check-ins) across devices. Synced data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on our servers. You can delete your account and its synced data at any time from the app, or by emailing us.
Advertising
The app is free and supported by ads. Banner ads appear on some screens, and a full-screen ad may appear after you finish a lesson. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which receives technical information such as your device type, coarse region, and how the ad performed. We never send your verses, highlights, notes, or account details to advertisers, and we never let them read your reading activity. We do not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps or websites, so the ads you see are not personalized using an advertising identifier. Google's own handling of ad data is described in its privacy & terms.
Analytics & crash reports
To understand which features are used and to fix bugs, the app sends anonymized usage events (via PostHog) and crash reports (via Sentry). These are tied to a random identifier, not your name or email. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Content reports
When you report a piece of feed content, we receive the report reason, any note you write, and an anonymous device identifier used to prevent abuse. Reports are used only for content moderation.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us — we will respond within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your synced data from our servers.
Children
Bible Widget is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
